EU Reps Break Ranks And Will Meet Hamas

You probably didn't know that a high level European delegation is currently visiting the Palestinians. The story is not getting too much press coverage. The reason should not surprise you. This from Maan;

A high-level European Parliament delegation headed by Mr Kyriacos Triantaphyllides (Cyprus) is visiting the occupied Palestinian territories from 29 April to 4 May 2007.

The delegation, which comprises European parliamentarians from seven different EU nations, is expected to meet with high-level representatives of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) and the Palestinian government, according to a press release from the European Commission office in Jerusalem.

What the press release fails to mention is just exactly who in the PLC they are going to meet; Fatah or Hamas. EU policy remains in place that nobody meets Hamas. In order to clear things up, I sent an email to three members (De Rossa, Bowis and Davies) of the delegation. Here is a copy;

Sir,

I understand that you will be in Palestine through May 4th. I would like to know which government officials are scheduled to meet with your group. Will you be meeting with Fatah officials only or will you also meet with Hamas officials?

Thank you in advance for you prompt reply
.

I received a very prompt answer from Avril Manderson, who is the Press Officer to Chris Davies. Here is her response;

Dear Jay.

Please find below a press statement relating to Chris' visit. Further to this the delegation will be meeting with 5 ministers from the Unity Govt this afternoon, and are also due to meet President Mahmood Abbas this evening.

Best wishes

MEPs TO DEFY EU BY MEETING PALESTINIAN PRIME MINISTER

A European Parliament delegation is set to break with EU policy by meeting with Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Hanieh TOMORROW (Tuesday 1 May).

The European Council and European Commission continues to refuse to meet with any Hamas member of the new Unity Government, claiming that they are yet to be satisfied about their compliance with the demands of the Quartet,viz. renunciation of violence, recognition of Israel, and acceptance of past agreements.

But an official and all-party delegation of the Parliament is due to meet with Mr Hanieh in Gaza on Tuesday morning.

The group includes Liberal Democrat MEP Chris Davies, who last year was the first British representative to meet with President Mahmood Abbas after theEU withdrew direct funding from the Palestinian Authority.

He said: "A year ago I described it as madness for the EU not to respect the result of democratic elections in Palestine, and refuse even to talk to members of the then Hamas-led government. The situation has deteriorated hugely since then but the formation of the Unity Government offers a ray of hope that must be seized."

Members of the Delegation want to question Mr Hanieh directly about the policies of the government he leads. We will also ask whether there is new information about kidnapped BBC journalist Alan Johnston, who I met in Gaza last year."

Now it's obvious why this story is not widely covered. Why would the MSM want to make noise about EU officials meeting Hamas terrorists? Can't we all be friends?

What really gets me is Davies' ludicrous statement, "A year ago I described it as madness for the EU not to respect the result of democratic elections in Palestine, and refuse even to talk to members of the then Hamas-led government."

According to Davies, if you're democratically elected, then we must respect the vote. We do, Mr. Davies. We recognize that the vote determined who will be head of state, and because he is a terrorist, we choose not to deal with him. Period. Hitler was also democratically elected. So were Saddam Hussein, Bashar Assad and Hugo Chavez. Some of the above actually received over 90% of the vote. I guess we should really respect those guys since they are clearly the people's choice.

This group would make great hostages in Gaza, don't you think?

Abbas' Fatah Group Is Preparing Martyrs

A group affiliated with Fatah has launched its "Summer Storm" campaign against Israel. The Palestinian daily Maan reports;

The Fatah-affiliated, Group of the Martyr Ayman Jouda, on Sunday declared that it has launched what it called the 'Summer Storm' campaign, to confront the Israeli attacks in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the brigades said that the campaign will include guerrilla operations and launching projectiles at Israeli towns.

The group also said that "the new slogan for our battle with the Israeli enemy at this stage will be the campaign of the Summer Storm; to confront Israeli arrogance, assassinations and violations, and to protect our people. We urge the other factions to prepare the martyrs to confront the expected attack on the Strip by the Zionist enemy".

The statement urged the Palestinian resistance fighters "to hit the Zionist enemy, intensify martyrdom operations and burn [the Israeli towns of] Ashkelon and Sderot."

The liberal in you may want to argue that the call has gone out to resist Israeli attacks. Self defense, right? Wrong. "Martyrdom operations", which means suicide attacks and "burning the Israeli" towns are war crimes. They are not defensive in nature.

This is the same Fatah that is chaired by Mahmoud Abbas. The same Abbas that has become Israeli PM Olmert's bi-weekly drinking buddy. The same Abbas that received a $100 million booster from Olmert. The same Abbas that has Condi Rice jumping through hoops. For this same Fatah, the U.S. Congress just authorized a support package of $59 million.

When will they understand that Fatah is no less a terror organization than Hamas? When will Fatah be recognized by the U.S as a terror organization? You can't fight the war on terror when you invite the terrorists into your own home. Rice, Olmert….anyone paying attention???

Israeli Arabs: We Are With Hezbollah

The Arab Fifth Column in Israel got a little bolder yesterday. The Balad Party (Arab Knesset Party) held a rally in support of ex-MK Bishara. Bishara, who just resently resigned, is currently under investigation for suspected collaboration with the enemy (Hezbollah) during the war last summer. Here is YNET;

Over 3,000 supporters attended the rally in Nazareth on Saturday, and protested what they defined as “the cruel campaign against Bishara and the Arab population in Israel”.

The rally was organized by all political Arab factions, and featured speakers such as Hadash chairman MK Mohammad Barakeh, Sheikh Raed Salah, MK Talab El-Sana, and Higher Arab Monitoring Committee Chairman Shawki Khatib.

"What is Bishara accused of? Collaborating with the enemy? Hezbollah isn't our enemy, the Israeli occupation is the enemy. Olmert, Diskin and Lieberman the immigrant will not succeed in removing us from our land," Hadash's Secretary-General Ayman Auda said.

These are not Palestinian protestors. These are "Israeli-Arabs" who enjoy the full benefits of Israeli citizenship. They have the right to vote, and practice the freedom of religion, speech and press. They receive medical benefits and social security. According to a new bill in the Knesset, they will receive a disproportional amount of education subsidies.

These are the same Arabs who protested a lack of bomb shelters when Hezbollah Katyushas were raining down upon them. What hypocrisy!!

Some argue that they receive more than the Jews. The Arabs do not have to serve in the Army (3 years) and payment of real estate taxes and water usage fees are virtually non-existent and go uncollected.

Apparently, the Arabs have the right to elect traitors to the government. Apparently, the Arabs have the right to exercise their right to freedom of assembly even when these rallies give aid and comfort to the enemy.

These Arabs are protesting against Israel's right to exist, even at their own expense. They know all too well what life would be like for them under Palestinian rule. Corruption, random executions and no working social system would be the order of the day. The hatred for Jews and Israel is so strong and ingrained in their culture that they are willing to commit suicide (literally) in order to evacuate the Jews.

These people are traitors. One and all. Make them an offer they can't refuse. Go to Lebanon, Syria, or Jordan. Live with your brothers. Enjoy a "free democratic society". If things are so tough here, the door is open.

Swiss To Host Hamas

Move over Norway, make room for Switzerland. Support terror now. Haaretz reports;

Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh will visit Switzerland in May in what will be his first official state visit to Europe since becoming prime minister, according to a report in the French news agency AFP released Friday.The report stated that a date has still not been set for the trip.

Switzerland has, in its past, supported anti-Jewish groups. I recall one such incident when a Swiss banker had to explain why he had gold teeth on deposit in his bank. Some things never change.

Abbas Approved Hamas Independence Day Attack

Here is an interesting twist to Hamas' rocket attack and attempted kidnapping last Tuesday; Abbas approved the whole thing. This from WND;

A massive Hamas rocket attack earlier this week was coordinated directly with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and members of his Fatah party, according to Hamas sources speaking to WND.

In the first rocket attack it claimed responsibility for in five months, Hamas Tuesday fired 39 Qassam rockets and 79 mortars from the Gaza Strip aimed at nearby Jewish communities.

Last night, Israel's major television newscasts quoted Israeli security officials stating the Hamas attack was carried out with the approval of Abbas, other Fatah members and the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades terror group, the declared military wing of Fatah.

In January, a spokesman for Olmert said the Al Aqsa Brigades members firing the missiles from Gaza are not affiliated with Fatah and don't take orders from Abbas. She said the militants are directed by the Iranian-backed Lebanese Hezbollah militia.

But in a WND interview following the spokeman's remarks, Brigades commander Abu Ahmed said his group, including the militants launching rockets, is loyal to Abbas and coordinates "resistance operations" with the Fatah party.

"The Al Aqsa Brigades is the military wing of the Fatah and the President Abu Mazen (Abbas) is the chairman of the movement," Abu Ahmed said. "We are committed to our leadership, to Abu Mazen. All our activity is in accordance with the political line of Fatah, which consists of fighting the occupation until the creation of a Palestinian state. The rocket-shooting is part of this vision."

This should be very disturbing news for some. Israeli PM Olmert has hinged what ever is left of his political career on the back of Abbas. Bi-weekly meetings, photo-ops and a $100 million incentives package are but a few of the goodies that Olmert affords Abbas. Why? As Olmert said this week, he doesn't want to "break the link with Abbas and the Pals". Taking into account that Abbas is approving operations intended to kidnap Israelis, it's unfathomable that Olmert wants any piece of Abbas. That's why Olmert's office has to deny the Fatah connection to the attack. Imagine, Fatah reps themselves brag of kidnap attempts and Olmert keeps on supporting them. If this is the modus operandi of Fatah, then as Giuliani said this week, "Hamas or Abbas, it makes no difference".

Condi Rice also has some explaining to do. Like Olmert, she has gone "all in" with Abbas. She won't meet Hamas reps, but any friend of Abbas is a friend of hers. Curious.

Abbas hasn't changed his spots. Author of a holocaust denial book, financier of the 1972 Munich Olympic Massacre and henchman to Yasir Arafat, Abbas continues his terrorist ways. Hamas, Fatah, as Rudy said, it's all the same. Too bad Ehud and Condi just don't get it.

Israel Holds Intensive Maneuvers

Israel is not taking any chances. Syria should take note. This from the Jerusalem Post;

The IDF on Thursday held intensive training maneuvers in preparation for a feared Syrian attack on the Golan Heights.

Hundreds of tanks and thousands of soldiers, backed by helicopters and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, massed in the Judean Desert to drill simulations of war. The training exercise focused on Brigade 401 and its utilization of Israel's most advanced tank - the Merkava Mark 4 - against the Syrian advanced Russian-made T-72.

Since the Second Lebanon War, Military Intelligence has claimed that war with Syria is now closer than ever, and the IDF is on heightened alert in the North in preparation for the possibility of a surprise attack.

President Bashar Assad, analysts have said, was empowered by Hizbullah's surprise success while fighting the IDF. The assessment is that he might be motivated to launch hostilities in an effort to retrieve the Golan Heights, either by initiating a surprise attack to capture one or two Israeli communities or by firing long-range ballistic missiles at the home front.

Unfortunately, the complete failure of the IDF Command and the Olmert led government has brought Israel’s level of deterrence to its lowest level ever. Even a rogue Syria has been emboldened to hold maneuvers of their own as well as moving artillery and command centers much closer to the border than they ever dared before.

Syrian President Assad is not acting alone. Assad does not make any major decisions unless receiving the Iranian stamp of approval. Iran, for its part, has shown no hesitancy in fighting proxy wars. Not only would a Iranian backed Syrian foray into Israel quench the Arab desire for hostilities, it would help to further drive a wedge between the US and Europe. Europe, with UN Resolutions in hand, would rationalize Syria’s Golan Heights claims and then try to negotiate a settlement which would be both detrimental to Israel and be viewed in the Arab world as a prize for terror.

Israel would be wise to continue military preparations. This summer looks to be very interesting.

Condi Has Left The Building

Condi Rice is no longer with us in the war on terror. Condi is in Oslo and met with Norwegian Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere. Recall that Norway was the first European nation to recognize the Palestinian unity government. Norway went as far as to commit $100 million to the cause.

Here is Stoere;

"Norway has normalized relations with the government, which means that we talk to them. Norway will not be issuing carte blanche in any direction. We will be trying to pursue policies which draw in the right direction and which can also open the way for negotiations, and we also place very clear expectations on Israel."

Naturally, there are clear expectations from Israel; from the Palestinians, nothing.

Rice's response?

"We are in agreement that a Palestinian government that fully recognizes the Quartet principles would be a very good step forward, and I know the minister has worked very hard in the contacts that he has had to try to push forward towards that goal."

Not only does Rice not take Stoere to task for breaking the Western boycott of the terrorist government, she actually praises his hard work!! What has he done? He has awarded the Palestinians for their terror. $100 million without even one concession from Hamas! Not one!

Rice's corrupt diplomacy has done much harm. Her shameless promotion of Fatah chief Abbas as a "man of peace" and a "peace partner" is nothing short of a farce. She emboldens the terrorists with every visit to the region. Now she has taken another step down a very dangerous road. She is congratulating the terror financiers. In this respect, she is not very different than...Pelosi.

Greetings From Hamas

This from the Hamas website.

Keep up with your policy of restraint, Olmert. It's working!! They're running scared now!!

Abbas' Terrorists Dance On American Blood

If you are a Democrat, or for that matter an American, then this piece should disturb you. Very much. The following quotes come from Abu Ahmed, Northern Gaza commander of the Al-Aqsa Martyr's Brigade; a terrorist organization which is an offshoot of Condi Rice's ray of hope in the Middle East, Mahmoud Abbas and his Fatah organization. Many of the Al-Aqsa fighters have been trained by Americans and subsidized by US taxpayer dollars (just this month Congress approved a $59m aid package for Fatah). This is what he has to say today (courtesy of World Net Daily);

"It was a very happy day for us Palestinians to hear nine American dogs were killed in Iraq. We feel encouraged and we feel great solidarity with our brothers in Iraq, and we consider this heroic operation, which aims to humiliate the Americans, as proof that the will of our resistance is more powerful than any (big) American war airplanes,"

"The coming victory in Iraq proves the next step is to release Palestine if we speak in one voice. We the Palestinians are learning both on the political and military level from our brothers, the heroes in Iraq. They are a model for us. We can be inspired from them because the challenge the Americans are putting in the Green Zone is similar to the challenge the Zionists are putting on us. And in spite of Israeli pilotless drones, we are succeeding to shoot rockets and winning."

Folks, this animal is dancing on the blood of dead Americans. This animal and others like him were trained and bankrolled by America. Isn't it time to reevaluate the situation? Isn't it obvious that any withdrawal from Iraq before a total victory is attained will be viewed as a horrible defeat? Isn't it time for sympathizers and defeatists like Reid, Pelosi and Co. to resign and move out to the sands of Arabia? This must stop now.

Iran Looks To Ration Gasoline

Iran is preparing for gasoline rationing. This from Bloomberg News:

April 24 (Bloomberg) -- Iran has started testing so-called smart cards that will limit the amount of gasoline individuals can buy starting from May 10, Iranian oil ministry press agency Shana said, citing a ministry official.

Several Iranian gas stations have been equipped with smart card reading machines over the past few days to identify "potential problems," Abdolreza Amini, an adviser to Deputy Oil Minister Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh, told Shana. Iran, site of the world's second-largest oil and natural gas reserves, currently imports 45 percent of its gasoline needs.

Demand is buoyed by subsidies and supply is restricted by waste and scant refining capacity. Iran's parliament voted in March to raise the price of a liter of gasoline by 25 percent to $0.11 as of May 22. No decision has been reached on how many liters Iranian drivers will be allowed per day.

The Islamic Republic last year postponed a decision to ration gasoline to avoid popular discontent. Parliament allowed the government to import $5 billion worth of gasoline in 2006.

Ahmadinejad is taking a big risk. He was originally elected on an economic platform which was primarily geared to keep inflation in check. He must have something a lot bigger cooking here if he plans to squeeze the economy. Is he preparing for another round of sanctions? Is he building up war reserves? Worth keeping an eye on.

Hamas Plays The Temple Card

The rocket attack that Hamas launched yesterday in honor of Israel’s Independence Day was not the only salvo that they fired. Hamas MP and Chairman of the Jerusalem Affairs Committee Ahmad Abu Haliba intensified the attack with a major propaganda tirade. Here are some quotes courtesy of INN (translation is mine);

“Any earthquake, be it natural or caused by the Zionists, can cause the collapse of large sections of the al-aqsa mosque. The threats to al-aqsa stem from Israeli archaeological work which began in 1967.”

“According to Islamic tradition, al-aqsa was erected by the biblical Adam and was the second mosque ever built. Therefore, Solomon had no need to build the Temple since a prayer site already existed.”

This small segment contains a couple of interesting points. The claim that Israeli archaeological work causing damage to the Temple Mount is false. On the contrary, reckless Arab construction (or destruction) has led to a major bulge in the southern retaining wall of the complex. Thousands of tons of antique rich earth were haphazardly removed and dumped in a nearby valley in order to clear space for an underground mosque.

More important however, is the continued attempt to disconnect Judaism from the Temple Mount. Hamas intends to bring the Temple Mount front and center as a point of contention between Islam and Judaism. The most recent attempt to do so failed. Even the UN reported that Israel’s reconstruction of the Temple Mount Ramp was not in any way compromising the integrity of the Mount.

The question remains as to why Hamas has elected to suddenly play the “Temple card”.

Diversion. Hamas has suffered a few major blows these past two weeks. Just last week, Jordan's King Abdullah was quoted by Haaretz as saying that Jordan and Israel shared the same enemies; Hezbollah, Iran and Hamas. Abdullah later denied the statement but the damage was done. After all, those are not very welcome statements from the King of Palestine.

Egypt has also started to make life tough for Hamas. Egypt has asked Hamas to reduce the number of prisoners they are demanding in exchange for the release of Gilad Shalit. Egypt has told Hamas that continued rocket assaults will lead to an Israeli assault on Gaza and it is recommended that they cool it. Egypt has also started to restrict the movement of Hamas officials at the Sinai/Gaza border crossing.

As usual, when a divide is detected in the Arab world, the common enemy is sought to help bridge the gap. Therefore, Hamas has issued the call to arms to save al-aqsa from the Jews. Neither Egypt nor Jordan would ever ignore the call. This propaganda attack is to mend the rift and drag Israel into the fray.

Hamas continues to bank on the old adage; if you tell a lie often enough the masses will believe it. Worked for Hitler.

Iran Cracks Down On Clothing Stores

For those Iranian citizens who have a hard time controlling their "infidel urges" when getting dressed in the morning, the government has plans to help. This from Bloomberg News;

April 23 (Bloomberg) -- Iran's clothing shops will have to register their goods to ensure they meet Islamic moral standards, the Tehran Emrooz newspaper reported.

Registration also will be required for clothing distributors under the regulation, which takes effect July 22, the newspaper said, citing Guild Council head Mohammad Azad, who oversees the distributors' organization.

The regulation is an effort to end the sale of clothing that is against the Islamic Republic's religious principles, the paper cited Azad as saying. Previous government crackdowns have focused on consumers who wear items considered offensive, while the new regulation also holds the retail industry responsible.

Women in Iran are required to cover their hair and bodies in public with headscarves and loose-fitting coats. The cleric-led government also condemns modern hair styles and clothing for men. In recent years, Western-style garments imported from neighboring Turkey and other Asian nations have been widely available and are popular with Iran's youth.

I wonder where the Burqini fits in all of this.

Arabs Celebrate Israeli Dead

Memorial Day in Israel is a day like no other. It is a day of national mourning as Israel remembers her brave who made the ultimate sacrifice; Tens of thousand of soldiers, policeman, border patrol and civilians who lost their lives to the murderous Arabs. Shops are closed on Memorial Day Eve. Most businesses are closed. Local TV programming is pre-empted for 24 hours with specials dedicated to the martyrs. An air raid siren blasts at night and again in the morning and the whole country comes to attention. Almost everyone. YNET tells us who didn't;

Northern residents were incensed when they heard the distinct sound of fireworks coming from nearby Arab communities during ceremonies for the commemoration of fallen Israeli soldiers and terror victims in honor of Memorial Day.

Sunday evening at 8 pm, memorial ceremonies started at the memorial site for fallen soldiers in Carmiel. During the ceremony, participants suddenly heard blasts of fireworks, apparently coming from nearby Arab communities.

"We're used to the calls of the muezzin five times a day, including at five in the morning, and we're even used to fireworks being shot off for occasions they celebrate when we're observing Yom Kippur, but to set off fireworks on a day like this is simply a provocation. Even if they don't observe Memorial Day, they must be really insensitive to ignore us and our pain in this manner," said one of the participants in the memorial ceremony.

Typical of the Fifth Column. Typical of the Arabs to dance on the blood of Jews. Even if it's the same Jews who protect them from their own brothers.

France Is On Al-Qaeda's Wish List

If al-Qaeda has their way, France will learn that appeasement does not pay. The hard way. This from YNET;

As the French people went to the polls to select a president, jihadi members of an al-Qaeda online forum exchanged messages discussing their aspiration to "reinvade France (and convert it into) an Islamic country."

The internet discussion appeared as Spanish security forces warned that both Spain and France were targets of al-Qaeda terror plots.

A post that appeared on the al-Firdaws jihadi forum, submitted by a user named Faisal al-Baghdadi, contained a lengthy historical account of "the second stop of the Islamic conquest of Europe, France, after Andalusia, Spain."

The post took a nostalgic look at the battle of Tours in 732, in which Muslim forces, commanded by Rahman al-Ghafiqi, who invaded a portion of France, were repelled by the Frankish general Charles Martel ("the hammer"), and forced to retreat. The battle stemmed the medieval Islamic conquest of Europe.

"The Islamic army was left with a large number of martyrs, especially the great shahid (martyr) Abdul Rahman a-Ghafiqi… this battle is mentioned in history, and is known at the battle of Tours," the post explained.

"We ask that Allah sends us a genuine Rahman al-Ghafiqi, to finish what he started in Europe, and conquer the Vatican as promised in our beautiful Islamic verses," the post concluded.

Note that the Vatican is a legitimate target as well. Islam; the tolerant religion of peace.

Olmert Is Delusional

Israeli PM Ehud Olmert did not step foot near Lebanon last summer. He saw no action and did not don a uniform. However, he seems to be suffering severely from an extreme case of shellshock. After the comments he made this morning during an interview on Israel Radio, it would be hard to come to any other conclusion.

Here are some choice bits;

"Israel totally neutralized the activities of Hezbollah in the North."

Really? According to this UN report, Hezbollah continues to rearm via Syria. Hezbollah continues to pressure the Siniora Government from within and without. Olmert doesn't understand that the only reason that Hezbollah is not launching rockets into Israel is because Hezbollah does not see fit to do so now. Hezbollah still holds two Israeli hostages. Hezbollah still holds seats in the Lebanese Government. Neutralized? Hardly.

"The war as an unavoidable struggle that had won its main objective. "The principle aim we sought to attain, the "change of the equation" was realized, at a very tough price, under difficult circumstances."

This statement, ladies and gentlemen, is an outright lie. When Olmert finally mustered up the courage to address the nation five days after the war started, he specifically named three conditions that must be met before Israel agrees to a ceasefire; the release of the kidnapped soldiers, the elimination of Hezbollah Katyusha firepower and the disarmament of Hezbollah and its transfer to the north of the Litani River. Needless to say, not one of these terms were met when Israel led itself to the gallows and agreed to stop fighting. Needless to say that as of today, none of these terms have been met, and yet, Olmert has the outright nerve to claim that Israel has "won its main objective". The man is a shameful liar.

When asked during the interview about the failure to free the kidnapped soldiers he answered that "the government was making great efforts to bring them home." Thanks for your help. He also refused to explain why Israel could not stop Hezbollah's relentless missile attacks. Some leader.

On Iran;

"The danger of Teheran is of greatest significance, and I refuse to get into apocalyptic predictions that try to create panic and hysteria. The Security Council has passed two resolutions, which impose unprecedented sanctions. I think there is a possibility, even without a military operation, to stop Iran from going nuclear. The continuing the diplomatic efforts to which Israel is a partner, will in the end, attain the goal, and that there is no need to latch onto all sorts of apocalyptic prophecies which have no basis in reality."

This is comforting. Olmert is banking on a blend of UN resolutions and European appeasement in order to protect my back. Talk about covering all the bases. When it hits the proverbial fan at least Olmert can blame the UN and EU.

Olmert need headlines to distract the nation. Opinion polls show him with an approval rating of less than 10%. He failed miserably during the war in Lebanon. He is under investigation for his part in some very shady deals. His Treasury Minister temporarily suspended himself this morning as an embezzlement investigation picks up steam. The President is being charged with rape. His Justice Minister was recently convicted of indecent behavior. Olmert basks in the glory of the Israeli economy which was kickstarted by Netanyahu; whose very bold economic reforms were bashed by none other than Olmert himself. Yet Olmert marches on. Now is the time, more than ever before, for this corrupt failure to go home. Or anywhere for that matter.

12 Year Old Taliban Boy Beheads Accused Spy

A shocking new low for the religion of peace. A video clip has been released of a Pakistani man being beheaded by a 12 year old boy. The victim, Ghulam Nabi, was accused by the Taliban of being an American spy. Here is The Star;

KILI FAQIRAN, Pakistan (AP): The boy with the knife looks barely 12. In a high-pitched voice, he denounces the bound, blindfolded man before him as an American spy. Then he hacks off the captive's head to cries of "God is great!'' and hoists it in triumph by the hair.

A video circulating in Pakistan records the grisly death of Ghulam Nabi, a Pakistani militant accused of betraying a top Taliban official who was killed in a December airstrike in Afghanistan.
The video, obtained by AP Television News in the border city of Peshawar on Tuesday, appears authentic and is unprecedented in jihadist propaganda because of the youth of the executioner.

Captions mention Mullah Dadullah, the Taliban's current top commander in southern Afghanistan, although he does not appear in the video. The soundtrack features songs praising Taliban supreme leader Mullah Omar and "Sheikh Osama'' _ an apparent reference to Osama bin Laden, who is suspected of hiding along the Afghan-Pakistan border.

The footage shows Nabi making what is described as a confession, being blindfolded with a checkered scarf.

"He is an American spy. Those who do this kind of thing will get this kind of fate,'' says his baby-faced executioner, who is not identified.

A continuous 2 1/2-minute shot then shows the victim lying on his side on a patch of rubble-strewn ground. A man holds Nabi by his beard while the boy, wearing a camouflage military jacket and oversized white sneakers, cuts into the throat. Other men and boys call out "Allahu akbar!'' ("God is great!'') as blood spurts from the wound.

The film, overlain with jihadi songs, then shows the boy hacking and slashing at the man's neck until the head is severed.

The Great Depression

Now this is really funny. Gaza terrorists are suffering from depression due to the infighting between Hamas and Fatah. Unity Government? Sounds more like Freud's waiting room. Here's YNET;

Palestinian security forces have been seeking emotional counseling, following "internal infighting in Gaza". Dr. Riad al-Aqra, the director for the Gaza hospital for mental health, said that "although the occupation is a major cause for emotional depression for Gaza residents…Palestinian infighting plays a striking role in the increase of shock, tension and depression, present in previously unseen amounts."

Dr. al-Aqra cited the Palestinian website Dunia al-Waran, stating that these phenomena were seen primarily among wives and mothers of Palestinian security force members, but also among the troops themselves.

"One member of the Hamas security force came to me suffering from high tension, which was causing physical problems. He said he felt fear from the fact that he would burn in hell forever if he fired even one bullet at someone," the doctor said.

He told of another case, in which a member of the security forces arrived with similar symptoms. "He said he couldn't fire at another Muslim, and that he felt pain and bitterness," al-Aqra said.

Makes me want to cry.

Prozac anyone??

A Revolution In The Orthodox Church

Twelve brave Orthodox priests are looking to set things right by removing blatant anti-Semitic passages from their 1500 year old liturgy. This from the Jerusalem Post;

A group of 12 Orthodox priests have called on their Church to review its longstanding theological positions toward Jews and the State of Israel, and to excise anti-Semitic passages from its liturgy.

"Sadly, there are some Orthodox Christians who propagate disgusting anti-Semitism under the banner of Orthodoxy, which is incompatible with Christianity," said Rev. Innokenty Pavlov, professor of theology at Moscow's Biblical Theological Institute.

The 10-page declaration issued Thursday calls for the renunciation of replacement theology and the removal of anti-Semitic passages from Church liturgy - particularly Easter services - and endorses the eternal connection between the Jewish people and the Land of Israel. The passages appear in the standard Orthodox liturgy all over the world.

The dozen Orthodox priests who signed the declaration - some in open defiance of directives from church leadership - represent five different Orthodox churches, including the Russian, Greek, Ukrainian, Georgian and Ecumenical Orthodox Churches.

He said the anti-Semitic passages were most conspicuous during Easter services, and included statements such as "the Jewish tribe which condemned you to crucifixion, repay them, Oh Lord," which is repeated half a dozen times, and "Christ has risen but the Jewish seed has perished," as well as references to Jews as "God-killers."

It's about time. Let's see it happen.

Islamic Fashion At Its Finest

No folks, this is not a joke. This is the “burqini” and it’s all the rage in the Islamic world. Part burqa, part bikini; for the sporting Islamist in you.

This from Bloomberg News;

Aheda Zanetti says she wants Muslim women wearing Islamic-style swimwear to be a regular sight on Australian beaches -- and in elite sporting contests worldwide.

The Sydney designer's two-piece, head-to-toe bathing suit, dubbed the burqini, was adopted by Australia's new Muslim lifeguards this year.

Smaller companies such as Zanetti's Ahiida Ltd. and Shereen Sabet's Splashgear LLC in Huntington Beach, California, may have to lead the way, said Rimla Akhtar, chairwoman of the Muslim Women's Sport Foundation in Harrow, England.

Editor’s note: Distribution is planned for other “sympathetic areas” such as Paris and Herndon.

Hamas: Koran Forbids Recognition Of Israel

Mahmoud Abbas claims the Palestinian Unity Government is capable of making peace with Israel. Hamas, however, continues to disagree. This from the Jerusalem Post;

Former PA foreign minister Mahmoud A-Zahar of Hamas said Friday that recognizing Israel contradicts the Koran, Israel Radio reported.

In an interview with a Hamas-affiliated Web site, A-Zahar said that Hamas had not given up on the principle that all of Palestine is Muslim land.

Land for peace? Hamas says no. The Saudi Peace Plan? Hamas says no.

However, Israel is under direct threat to accept the plan or else. Welcome to the insanity of the Arab world. Israel is under direct threat of war to accept an agreement, to which the counterparty will in no way, shape or form abide by. Arab diplomacy at its finest. Arab lunacy at its best.

A Leopard's Spots

In my recent post The Two Mouthed Monster, I discussed the very different messages that come from the Paleo-stinian leadership; the smooth English speaking, peace loving Mahmoud Abbas versus the blood curdling Arabic screams of Hamas. The obvious question remains; what does Abbas say in Arabic? Is he true to his English word or is he just another blood thirsty terrorist disguised in a western tailored suit?

Courtesy of the ZOA, I bring you a selection of Abbas quotes. You decide.

On fighting Israel: “We have a legitimate right to direct our guns against Israeli occupation ... Our rifles, all our rifles are aimed at The Occupation"
( Jerusalem Post, January 11, 2007; Independent Media & Review Analysis, January 12, 2007).

On Hamas: “We must unite the Hamas and Fatah blood in the struggle against Israel as we did at the beginning of the intifada. We want a political partnership with Hamas” ( Jerusalem Post, February 5, 2007).

On Jews: “The sons of Israel are corrupting humanity on earth” ( World Net Daily, January 11, 2007).

On Israel: “the Zionist enemy” (Associated Press, January 4, 2005; CNN.com, January 7, 2005).

On recognizing Israel: “It is not required of Hamas, or of Fatah, or of the Popular Front to recognize Israel” (Al-Arabiya [Dubai] and PA TV, October 3, 2006, translation courtesy of Palestinian Media Watch).

On suicide bombers: “Allah loves the martyr” (Wall Street Journal, January 5, 2005).

On wanted Palestinian terrorists: “heroes fighting for freedom” ( Age [Melbourne], January 3, 2005); ” Israel calls them murderers, we call them strugglers” (Jerusalem Post, December 25, 2004).

On Yasser Arafat: “It is our duty to implement the principles of Yasser Arafat” ( Haaretz, January 3, 2005); “We will continue in the path of the late president until we fulfill all his dreams” (Agence France-Presse, November 11, 2005); “The Palestinian leadership won’t stray from Arafat’s path” (Yediot Ahronot , November 11, 2006)

On disarming Palestinian terrorists: a “red line” that must not be crossed (Washington Times, January 3, 2005)

On jailed Palestinian terrorists: “our heroes.” (Israel National News, May 26, 2006).

On the so-called ‘right of return’ of Palestinian refugees and their millions of descendants which, if implemented would end Israel as a Jewish state: “The issue of the refugees is non-negotiable” ( Jerusalem Post, January 11, 2007); “We won’t give up on this issue” (Yediot Ahronot , November 12, 2006).

On the Hizballah terrorist group: During the 2006 war unleashed by Hizballah’s attacks upon Israel, he praised it is a source of pride that sets an example for what he termed the “Arab resistance” (Jerusalem Post, August 6, 2006).

I think the point is clear. The Paleo-stinian message is clear. Is anybody listening?

The Two Mouthed Monster

The Palestinian Unity Government has two main goals; to reestablish international financial support and to destroy Israel. Bear in mind that this is not opinion but fact. The leaders from the government say so themselves.

They realize that in order to accomplish both missions, the two must be kept far apart. It would be hard to regain foreign subsidies while preaching genocide. They have, however, perfected the art of doublespeak. Not in the pure sense of the word, but surely in spirit. They have perfected the art of addressing the world in soft toned English. Peace, love and understanding. When addressing the masses, it's in hard core Arabic. Death, hate and genocide.

The point was clearly illustrated in yesterday's headlines. While this meeting was taking place (BBN);

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, fresh from his latest meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, consulted in Jordan today before leaving for Europe to seek a renewal of international aid.

The Palestinian leader will meet French President Jacques Chirac in Paris tomorrow in the second stop on a nine-country tour, aides in the Gaza Strip said. He will also visit Italy, Greece, Poland, Sweden, Bulgaria, Switzerland and Egypt.

The European Union and U.S. cut off direct aid to the Palestinian Authority last year when the Hamas movement, which they consider a terrorist organization, won national elections. Hamas and Abbas' Fatah movement formed a joint Cabinet last month in part to persuade international donors that the government will pursue peace with Israel and deserves money.

Xinhua reports on Abbas' on Fatah movement;

Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, the military wing of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement on Monday urged its members to kidnap Israelis to swap them for Palestinian prisoners."

This is an open call for all our fighters to focus on kidnapping Israeli soldiers and civilians," al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades said in a statement to press.

The statement held the "Israeli enemy" responsible for the failure of the release the Palestinian prisoners.

And on Unity Government partner Hamas, Xinhua has this to say;

As Palestinians mark Prisoners Day, Haneya told a rally of families of Palestinian prisoners that "We confirm that the political route of our government is based on adhering to the national principles and we will never make concessions on them."

See what I mean? Abbas goes abroad "to persuade international donors that the government will pursue peace with Israel and deserves money" while Fatah calls for kidnapping and Hamas refuses to make concessions (no peace no agreements).

The results are predictable. As usual, the ankle grabbing Euros will fall all other themselves for photo-ops with the Nobel Prize candidate. They will swear up and down that this time, Abbas is really, really, really serious about peace. As far as Hamas and Fatah, well, they really, really, really don't mean it. It's politics, stupid.

That's the stupidity of the left personified. No matter how far fetched peace talk may be, it is always believable. No matter how real terrorist threats might be, they are always far fetched.

Iran To Build Two New Reactors

Being that the UN sanctions have not prevented Iran from continuing its nuclear program, Iran has decided to build another two reactors. This from Bloomberg News;

Iran is inviting bids to build two nuclear power plants in the Southern province of Bushehr, according an advertisement published today in English-language newspaper Iran Daily.

Bidders can obtain the necessary documentation from April 25 upon payment of a 15,000-euro ($20,300) fee, the tender notice said. Offers to build the two reactors -- each with a capacity to generate between 1,000 and 1,600 megawatts of electricity -- must be submitted before Aug. 8, it added.

Russia is building Iran's first nuclear plant, also in Bushehr, at a cost of at least $1 billion.

Construction of the plant, which will generate about 1,000 megawatts, has faced numerous delays due to political disputes over Iran's atomic development program and over its promptness in making payments to contractors.

The cost of two additional power plants in Bushehr is between $1.4 billion and $1.7 billion each, the official Islamic Republic News Agency quoted Ahmad Fayaz Bakhsh, the deputy head of Iran's atomic energy organization, as saying on April 15.

So much for looking the other way. This is one problem that will not go away by itself.

A Man Above The Rest

Today I bring you a man who stands head and shoulders above his European brothers. A man who is not afraid to stand up and be counted. Three cheers for Maxime Verhagen. This from Xinhua;

Dutch Foreign Minister Maxime Verhagen will prevent Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh from entering the Netherlands to attend a conference on Palestinian refugees, Dutch daily De Volkskrant reported Monday.

Haniyeh is chairman of Hamas which is listed by the European Union (EU) as a Palestinian terrorist organization.

He has been invited as guest of honor for the fifth Palestinian-European conference in Rotterdam on May 5.

He said if a visa is requested he will order an investigation to find out whether he can deny Haniyeh's entry to the Netherlands.

The Netherlands has shied away from any contact with Palestinian politicians who do not recognize the state of Israel. Hamas refuses to end its violence against Israel and does not recognize Israel.

I firmly believe that if Europe had more men like Mr.Verhagen we wouldn't be in the dire situation that we found ourselves. Moslems wouldn't be freely rioting across the continent. Iran would have long ago given up its nuclear aspirations. The global jihad would be reeling.

The fuel that powers global Islamic terror is our lack of desire to acknowledge that the war is on. If there is no war, there is no fight.

Mr. Verhagen is aware that the war is on. The EU classifies Hamas as a terrorist organization yet EU actions do not reflect this. Mr. Verhagen has thrown down the gauntlet. Either you are with him or against him in the WAR ON TERROR (capitalized for the Brits).

In Pakistan, A Hug Can Get You Killed

Being a celeb in Pakistan is akin to living on the edge. A fatwa is always just around the corner. Ask Pakistan's Tourist Minister and she'll tell you all about it. The not too shocking story from AP;

Pakistan's tourism minister says she fears for her life after clerics at a radical mosque issued an edict accusing her of sinning by hugging her French parachute jumping instructor, the state news agency reported.

(Hug of Death?)

Minister of Tourism Nilofar Bakhtiar told a parliamentary committee of her fear on Saturday following the Taliban-style edict against her by Islamic clerics at Lal Masjid, or Red Mosque, in Islamabad, the Associated Press of Pakistan reported.

The clerics said the hug was "an illegitimate and forbidden act" and "without any doubt, she has committed a great sin."

Two clerics at the mosque issued the edict against Bakhtiar last Sunday, demanding that she be sacked, her family punish her and she be made to ask for forgiveness after pictures in the Pakistani media showed Bakhtiar hugging her parachute jumping instructor at a fundraising jump in France.

The mosque's chief cleric, Maulana Abdul Aziz, has threatened to stage suicide attacks if authorities try to raid the mosque.

Bakhtiar rejected the edict last week, saying she had only received a pat from her instructor for her jump in France last month to raise money for victims of a devastating earthquake in Pakistan in 2005.

Imagine, she went to raise money for local earthquake victims, most of them probably Moslem, and this is the thanks she gets.

Ahhhh, Islam, the religion of peace.

Christian Book Store Is Bombed In Gaza

The Religion of Peace continued to employ Nazi like tactics in Gaza this morning as two more internet cafes and a Christian bookstore were firebombed. In the past three months alone more than three dozen internet cafes have been attacked.

The American Protestant funded bookstore known as The Bible Society suffered severe external damage and many books were burned as well.

Here is the AP,

Several similar attacks on Internet cafes and music stores in recent months have been claimed by a little-known extremist Islamic organization calling itself the Swords of Truth.

The officials would not speculate on the identity of the attackers behind the Sunday attacks, saying only that the incidents were under investigation. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the press.

Recall that in March, Hamas themselves held a mass book burning because the context wasn't exactly to their liking.

This is how it starts. If the EU and the UN continue to turn a blind eye to the obvious then we will see how it ends.

Iran Training Thousands Of Iraqi Shia

The British "Independent" has confirmed today what many on the left and the MSM would prefer not hear; Iran is training Iraqi Shia terrorists. This from the Independent;

Thousands of Iraqi Shias are being trained in advanced guerrilla warfare tactics at a secret camp near the Iranian capital, according to militants who say they have spent time there.

Through an Iraqi intermediary who also went to Iran, The Independent on Sunday spoke to two seasoned guerrilla fighters. They said large numbers of Mahdi Army volunteers loyal to the maverick Shia cleric Moqtada al-Sadr had gone to the base in Jalil Azad, near Tehran, for instruction.

Sketchy though these accounts are, they are the first independent confirmation of repeated British and US claims that Iraqi militants are being trained, funded and armed by elements in Iran.

Iranian soldiers have been arrested in Iraq. Iranian made weapons have been confiscated in Iraq. Yet Pelosi & Co. still have their eyes on a Teheran jaunt.

What's wrong with these people? Don't they realize that this behavior is nothing short of "aiding and abetting" as well as "giving comfort" to the enemy?

The UK Navy fiasco has further emboldened the Iranian regime. Iran had taken British hostages and no one blinked. Not Britain, not the EU and not the UN.

Iran will continue to push the envelope until a big red line is drawn in the sand. Unfortunately, nobody seems to have the will to do it.

The British Press Calls To Boycott Israel

It's been a bad couple of weeks for the now defunct British Empire. A kidnapped reporter is virtually abandoned by his government. A once proud Navy is stained by the antics of fifteen sell outs. And now its press corps has bent over to grab its collective ankles.

This from the Guardian;

The National Union of Journalists has voted at its annual meeting for a boycott of Israeli goods as part of a protest against last year's war in Lebanon.

(It is very difficult to take British journalism very seriously when the group can sign off on such fabrications. Why would one boycott Israel to protest a war that someone else started? Oh, I see, you're British. That explains why you didn't retaliate when 15 of your soldiers were kidnapped. Afraid of the old boycott?)

"This ADM [annual delegate meeting] calls for a boycott of Israeli goods similar to those boycotts in the struggles against apartheid South Africa led by trade unions and the TUC [Trades Union Congress] to demand sanctions be imposed on Israel by the British government and the United Nations."

The vote on the motion was taken after it was split from a larger motion that condemned the "savage, pre-planned attack on Lebanon by Israel" last year.

(Savage? Pre-planned? Are you referring to Hezbollah rocket attacks on civilian centers? )

This motion, known as Composite B in Order Paper 4, was carried by a large majority and also condemned the "slaughter of civilians by Israeli troops in Gaza and the IDF's [Israeli Defense Forces] continued attacks inside Lebanon following the defeat of its army by Hezbollah".

(What's this fetish with slaughter of civilians??)

The motion called for the end of Israeli aggression in Gaza and other occupied territories.

(Gaza is no longer occupied. Period.)

Britain insists on embarrassing itself anew each day. At this rate, Sharia will be the order of the day in the House of Lords.

Saudi Press: Israel Exported HIV Laced Melons

Our peace loving Saudi neighbors know no limits when it comes to slamming Israel. An absurd lie started as a mass mailed SMS message eventually found its way on to the front page of a leading Saudi (government sponsored) newspaper. Ynet reports that the message read as follows;

"The Saudi Interior Ministry warns its citizens of a truck loaded with AIDS infected melons that Israel brought into the country via a ground corridor."

Ynet continues;

The Interior Minister's spokesman General Mansour al Turki responded to news of the message and made it clear to a-Sharq al-Awsat newspaper that the Ministry "did not issue any such announcement. This is just a rumor."

This is not the first rumor to spread through the country recently. Just last month another rumor had it that sweets containing carcinogenic flour were being sold in many stores.

Head of the center for chemicals and toxins in Mecca, Dr Ahmad Elias also stressed that there was no truth to these rumors.

"The HIV virus cannot survive in any temperature other than that of the human body, which cannot be reached in fruits," he explained.

The Middle Age blood libels are alive and well. You can surely count on Saudi Arabia to fulfill the role as honest peacemakers.

A Bad Day At The Office

Think you had a bad day at the office? I guarantee you it wasn't as bad as what Taiwanese vet Dr. Chang Po-yu experienced. Chang was attempting to remove a tranquilizer dart from the back side of a 200 kg crocodile. The croc was to be sedated in order to be given medical treatment. Chang was a little impatient and did not wait until the drugs took effect. The results are predictable.

Chang's arm was reattached during a seven hour operation. The vet could not be reached for comment. However when the croc was pressed for a statement he shyly replied, "Tastes like chicken".

Russia Welcomes Iranian "No Fly" General

When it comes to Iran, Russia continues to break all the rules. This from the Jerusalem Post;

A Revolutionary Guards general, No. 7 on the blacklist of 15 Iranians who are banned from traveling abroad by UN Security Council Resolution 1747, was welcomed by Russian authorities last week.

Gen. Muhammad Baqer Zolqadr, ex-deputy head of the Revolutionary Guards, was appointed deputy interior minister for security affairs in November. Well-known for his threats to bomb the Dimona (Israel) nuclear facility, and to arrange "a bloodbath" and "a second Vietnam for Americans," he enjoyed Russian hospitality for six days, leaving unhindered on Monday.

Teheran is using the visit to show that UN sanctions are ineffective. In an interview with Iranian state television, Zolqadr bragged about his journey and mocked the Security Council resolution, which calls on all governments "to exercise vigilance and restraint regarding the entry into or transit through their territories of individuals who are engaged in, directly associated with or providing support for Iran's proliferation sensitive nuclear activities or for the development of nuclear weapon delivery systems."

Zolqadr said he came to Russia at the invitation of the Federal Border Guards and the Emergencies Ministry, and that he had received an exceptionally warm welcome from Russian officials.

Iran ignores UN resolutions and the world is silent. Iran kidnaps 15 Brits and the UK Prime Minister and Minister of Defense are the bad guys. Is it any surprise that Iran is not shy to brag about this trip? Is it any surprise that Russia invited him in the first place?

It seems quite apparent that Russia does not mind getting into bed with Iran if it furthers the "New Soviet" ambitions of once again becoming a world superpower. I've never been to the Putin residence, but I wouldn't be surprised if a large portrait of Stalin is proudly displayed over the mantelpiece.

Hamas: Kill The Jews And "Take" The Americans

The Europeans in general and Norway in specific would like you to believe that Hamas is "moderating" and taking a more liberal stance. Not. Palestinian Media Watch brings a clip of Hamas spokesman "Dr." Ismail Radwan calling for nothing less than the murder of Jews. Here is the text; translated from the Arabic original (as usual, the real hardcore talk is in Arabic while the friendly chatter for Western propaganda purposes is in English).

The Hour [Resurrection] will not take place until the Muslims fight the Jews and the Muslims kill them, and the rock and the tree will say: "Oh, Muslim, servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me, kill him!"We must remind our Arab and Muslim nation, its leaders and people, its scholars and students, remind them that Palestine and the Al Aqsa mosque will not be liberated through summits nor by international resolutions, but it will be liberated through the rifle. It will not be liberated through negotiations, but through the rifle, since this occupation knows no language but the language of force… O Allah, strengthen Islam and Muslims, and bring victory to your Jihad fighting worshipers, in Palestine and everywhere… Allah take the oppressor Jews and Americans and their supporters! - "Dr." Ismail Radwan, March 30, 2007

More European Hypocrisy

Here is yet another fine example of European hypocrisy. According to this report from Xinhua News, Norway lays down the law to Iran.

Norway is concerned over the fact that Iran is continuing to defy the international community by stepping up its uranium enrichment activities, said reports reaching here from Oslo on Wednesday.

"These developments give grounds for concern, and will make finding a political solution to the nuclear dispute even more difficult," said Minister of Foreign Affairs Jonas Gahr Stoere, quoted by Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK).

He said there is no reason to believe Iran when it claims it will not produce nuclear arms, since Iran has in the past hidden its programs.

"It is vital that Iran regains its international credibility. This can only happen if Iran suspends its uranium enrichment programs," Stoere said in a press release.

Stoere pointed out that Iran has not thus far shown the requisite openness towards and willingness to cooperate with the international community.

"Norway supports the international demands made of Iran by a unanimous UN Security Council. Iran must now show real willingness to contribute to a negotiated solution," The Norwegian Foreign Minister underlined.

Talk, however, is cheap. Not two weeks ago I brought you a piece on a warning that was issued to Norway by the U.S. State Department. The charge?

The U.S. State Department has warned Norway's energy minister that companies investing in Iran's oil and natural gas industry face potential sanctions from the U.S. Government.

Statoil ASA, Norway's largest oil company, is increasing its investment in Iran's South Pars gas development. The company signed an agreement in 2002 to help develop the Persian Gulf field, the world's largest natural-gas deposit.

Business as usual for the Europeans. Ethics and values carry weight as long as they are free. When it comes to the big buck, all bets are off.

Come To Gaza And Be With Friends!!

The new Palestinian Authority Minister of Tourism has a problem; there are no vacationers in Palestine. Considering the daily kidnappings, shootings and explosions, the lack of sightseers should not come as a surprise.

(Rooms Available)

However, this does not stop new PA Minister Khuloud Daibes from placing the blame squarely on Israel and the West. The Palestinians are naturally not to blame.

"We can't function like this, with the international aid boycott and the restrictions on movement."

Her solution?

"We are counting on cooperation with the outside world to give Palestine the image it deserves and encourage tourism and pilgrims. Behind the security wall they will find friendly people with a rich heritage and culture ready to receive them."

Rebranding. New Image. How about some commercials or slogans? Here's my top selections:

1-Vacation in Palestine and get more bang for you buck
2- I'm in Palestine and I'm having a blast
3- Palestine….it's Dyn-o-mite!!!
4- See Gaza…it's a gas gas gas

What's yours???

Arab Press Adores Pelosi

Let there be no doubt as to the extent of the damage caused by Nancy Pelosi's Mid-East adventure. The Arab press, which is for the most part nothing short of government propaganda, is falling over itself in praise of Pelosi's visit. Read on, courtesy of MEMRI;

Columnist Muhammad Ali Boza wrote in the Syrian government daily Al-Thawra that Pelosi's visit was "an important turning point in American public policy, on the level of the street and public opinion, which has begun to act as a pressure on the government and to understand – even if belatedly – the severity of the damage that the official policy of the new Republicans sic has caused..."

"There is no doubt that the diplomacy of dialogue and negotiations with Syria, and listening to the Syrian position on the burning subjects and the numerous issues relating to the region and the conflict, are recognition of the importance and centrality of the Syrian role, and [recognition] that it is impossible to ignore it and leap over it, and that it would be absurd to put forward plans or solutions to which Syria does not agree, and which are not in keeping with Syria's fundamental national and pan-Arab principles..."

Egypt's Al-Ahram's Arab affairs editor Mas'ud Al-Hanawi wrote: "The statements by Pelosi, who ignored the White House's criticism of her, were more balanced, sensible, and diplomatic than the White House's approach when she said that her visit to Damascus was a good opportunity to gather facts and build confidence... What has greater benefit and influence – the isolation of the president of a large and influential country like Syria, or dialogue with it and getting to know the true Syrian positions from the source?..."

Mazen Hammad wrote in the Qatari daily Al-Watan: "It is as if lightning had struck the White House. This is how House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to Damascus could be described. This wise woman, who is considered the third most senior American official, is not only bringing her country back to sanity, but is also contributing to improving the image of the U.S. in the Arab and Muslim world.

"The talk in the White House of 'mixed signals' sent to Syria by the visit is not true. The visit sends one single message – a message of the American people's challenge to the foreign policy adopted by the American administration..."

It takes a special person to unify the Arab world. It's not that hard however, when while doing so you sell out your own country.

Israel Plans To Evict Jews...Again

Further capitulation by the Olmert Government. Israel Defense Minister Peretz announced on Thursday night that the Jews who legally purchased a house in the West Bank town of Hebron (background here) would be evacuated within two weeks. Here is the Post;

A source in the Defense Ministry said that while the sale appeared to be legal, this was immaterial since the important issue was how the settlers entered the building. Peretz, the source said, took a "principled decision to evacuate those who had invaded the home."

And here is the response of a Jewish community leader;

"We know the defense minister has been looking for an excuse to expel us. We know that the sale was legal. We think that any attempt made to subvert the law and to expel us for any technical excuse is racist and anti-Semitic," said community spokesman David Wilder.

Wilder is absolutely correct. The Israeli Army and police investigated the sale and determined it was legal. Jordan and the PA have arrested the Palestinians who took part in the sale. Jordan and the PA did not protest the legitimacy of the transaction. They know all too well that it's a done deal.

Security establishment officials were estimating that thousands of police and soldiers would be required for the evacuation operation if a deal was not struck with the settlers to voluntarily evacuate the building. The same thousands that are not being used to free the kidnapped Israeli soldiers. Remember them?

Why is Peretz planning to evict the Jews? Two reasons. The first being very similar to why certain UK schools have banned Holocaust and Crusader history in their classrooms; they don’t want to antagonize the Moslem sensitivities of certain students. Secondly, it could be a matter of days before the investigative committee releases a partial report discussing Peretz's performance as Minister of Defense during last summer's war. He is expected to get lambasted. Peretz is already setting the diversion in motion.

Putting this all in perspective, the government of the Jewish State is going to evict Jews from a property that was legally purchased so as to not cause a provocation.

The government of the Jewish State has no problem provoking Jews. If Peretz was a Palestinian (and not a Palestinian agent) and he evicted Palestinians who purchased a property from Israelis, he would be hanging upside down from a lamppost in Ramallah.

A dangerous precedent is being sent. Theoretically, no Jew is safe living on land he legally purchased from a Palestinian. Isn't it a provocation?

Update from INN;

Kadima Knesset Member Otniel Schneller says most Kadima lawmakers intend to block Defense Minister Amir Peretz’s order to expel Jews from the Hevron Peace House. Schneller said Friday morning in an interview on Voice of Israel government radio that most Kadima legislators, including Prime Minister Ehud Olmert "will have a different opinion" than Peretz on the matter. "Everything was done according to the law,” said Schneller, and if Prime Minister Olmert is convinced that the building was legally purchased, the government will not support the Defense Minister."

I will be following this story closely.

O/T Krauthammer is a must read.

Al Qaeda And Hamas Run Rampant In Gaza

An Al-Qaeda splinter group is wreaking havoc in the Gaza Strip. This from the Jerusalem Post;

"Owners of Internet cafes in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday appealed to Palestinian Authority security forces to take tough measures to stop recurring attacks on their businesses. The appeal was made after unidentified assailants detonated explosive charges inside an Internet cafe in the town of Jabalya in the northern Gaza Strip. Wednesday's attack was the third of its kind in less than a week and the 48th in the past five months. In addition, a number of shops selling cassettes, DVDs and CDs have been targeted.

PA security sources said the attacks were the work of a radical Islamic group that began operating in the Gaza Strip last year. The group, which calls itself Swords of Islamic Righteousness, is believed to be an offshoot of Al-Qaeda. Its members have also claimed responsibility for assaults on women whom they accused of being dressed immodestly."

Hamas is not too far behind;

"In another development, Palestinian physicians called on Hamas to remove its paramilitary "Executive Force" from the premises of hospitals in the Gaza Strip. The presence of the Hamas militiamen in the hospitals has created tensions with rival Fatah gunmen. The two sides have repeatedly engaged in gun battles in and around the hospitals. The physicians' call came after one of their colleagues complained that he had been beaten by Hamas militiamen stationed at Shifa Hospital, the largest medical center in the Gaza Strip."
Let's see. Internet cafes, hospitals and immodestly dressed women are subject to random attacks by these deadly murderers. Peace partner? Pelosi, Rice and Co. think so. When will the talking heads come to their senses and realize that the hell bent Jihadists do not want compromise, negotiations or peace for that matter. It's their way or death.

The last thing we need at this point is US or UK diplomats visiting Gaza and thereby indirectly recognizing or legitimizing Jihadist actions. The international boycott must continue until the suffering is so bad that the Palestinians evict the Hamas and Al-Qaeda types. If the sanctions are loosened before they affect major change, all has been lost.

Britain Breaks Ranks, Will Meet With Hamas

BBC reporter Alan Johnston has not been heard from since he was kidnapped in Gaza on March 12. Palestinian government officials have repeatedly pledged assistance in the British effort to locate the reporter. Needless to say, nothing came of the efforts.

It should come as no surprise that today of all days, British Consul-General Richard Makepeace will meet with Hamas Prime Minister Haniyeh to discuss the missing reporter. When asked about the EU ban on contacts with Hamas members and the British policy not to meet Hamas officials a UK diplomat had this to say;

"This is just to discuss the kidnapping. It doesn't represent a change of policy.”

What nonsense! This is political doublespeak at its finest. This is surely the first repercussion of Tony Blair’s mishandling of the Iranian situation. Iran taught Blair an evil lesson; sometimes when you dance with the devil, the devil lets you lead. The British meeting with Hamas legitimizes Hamas.

Not only will Blair be eternally taken to task by the British left, now he is going to have the British right breathing down his neck. Tony is going down in flames.

Another Arab Israeli Traitor

More Fifth Column activity in Israel. Arab Member of Knesset Ahmed Tibi found time in his busy schedule to join the celebration in Jenin, which marked the fifth anniversary of a major Israeli military operation. The Israeli operation was launched after a Palestinian suicide bomber killed 29 and wounded 150 during a Passover Seder.

By his presence at such an event (picture below), it becomes clear where his mind is at. Another Arab making a living in Israel while doing everything to destroy it. More rope, please.

Hamas Revealed: A Telling Video

Ever the since the formation of the Palestinian Unity Government, many have fallen into the trap and are actually starting to believe that Hamas can take a moderate approach towards Israel. Do not be fooled. Any talk of 1948 or 1967 border, or for that matter a ceasefire is nothing more than a well thought out strategy. It is but one step towards the final goal; the destruction of Israel.

You don't have to believe me. Watch the clip, Hamas leadership will tell you exactly the same. It's hard to believe that the talking political heads are unaware of these facts. Based on the reaction of many, it's even scarier to believe that they are.

PA To Arm Hamas

You won't read this story in your local paper. It will most likely be ignored by the MSM. Sources in the PA have told Haaretz that if the scheduled bi-weekly talks between Olmert and Abbas do not bear fruit, the PA themselves will arm Hamas. This from Haaretz;

"If they go on meeting without the release of prisoners or other gestures, we ourselves will supply Hamas with the weapons it wants."

Hello Norway, Belgium; Still want to reopen diplomatic relationships?? Hello EU; still view the unity government as a positive step?? Hello Blazy; still optimistic about the future??

Additionally, the sources said Abbas had requested that Olmert include the West Bank in the temporary cease-fire with militant organizations being observed in the Gaza Strip. "Hamas and Islamic Jihad both expressed willingness, but Israel refused."

Of course Hamas and Jihad want to extend their little ceasefire to the West Bank. The ceasefire in which they launch rockets into Israel and Olmert sits on his hands and does nothing.

No need to look for a two-state solution. There already is one. Israel and Jordan.

I wish you all a very happy Passover.

Europe Takes Olmert's Lead

There is no longer any doubt as to the enormity of the political and strategic blunder committed by Israeli PM Olmert when he referred to the Saudi Peace Plan as, amongst other things, "a very interesting approach". Olmert went on to say that "It reflected a state of mind that rejected a violent approach to solving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and says explicitly that Arab nations should ultimately recognize Israel's right to exist."

How ironic that the same plan which in a sense calls for the demographic if not physical destruction of the Jewish State is in the Israeli PM's eyes favorable. How foolish of Olmert that he can look into this plan and claim that the Arabs reject a violent approach when they specifically warned that war would follow if Israel did not accept the proposal as is.

In an interview to Bloomberg News last week, Olmert had the audacity to claim responsibility for the Saudi Peace Plan. "It's me" he explained as to what spurred the Arabs to pull the 2002 proposal out of the drawer. What a proud moment!!

Europe did not waste any time in taking Olmert's lead in pandering to the Islamic proposal for the unconditional Israeli surrender.

"The Arab peace initiative and also the somewhat positive reaction from Prime Minister Olmert are very good things." - European External Relations Commissioner Benita Ferrero-Waldner

Notice that Ferrero-Waldner takes Olmert's "somewhat positive reaction" as a sign that the Saudi plan is not something to be dismissed off hand. After all, if Olmert did not pan it, then maybe there is some value in it. Get it? Olmert waffles, and Europe steps in line with the Arabs. As usual the EU takes the path of least resistance even if one day it will cost them their lives. Old habits die hard.

The sorriest part of all is that the other half of the equation, the Palestinians, understand better than Olmert what the real aim of the Arab League is. The Palestinian press tells the real story. H/T Palestinian Media Watch.

"As part of the strategy to paint Israel into a diplomatic corner, PA leaders are praising this plan as the last and only chance for peace. Even though he knows the plan is a non-starter, for example, PA chairman Mahmoud Abbas called it the “only chance for peace,” and said, “I think the Arab initiative is the most precious and important [plan] proposed since 1948 for a solution of the Palestinian problem and the occupation.”- Palestine Times, March 28, 2007

"The Arab capitals… have no illusions about the intentions of the Israeli government who oppose peace… When the Riyadh summit throws the ball to the Israel’s side, then this state will be exposed to the international community, following ten years of putting the blame on the Arab side, and especially the Palestinian side." - Al Quds, March 29, 2007

Hamas has no plans to lay down their arms. No Arab nation including Saudi Arabia is going to change that. As long as Iran and Syria give the green light, Hamas will live by its infamous charter and fight until the finish. Olmert, however, refuses to acknowledge this. He is so bent on receiving international recognition, he is willing to sell out Israel in order to get the European pat on the back.

This is yet another sorry example that appeasement is weakness. We all know where weakness leads to.
