Syria and Iran Behind Attempted Kidnap of Israeli Soldier
The proxy war continues as appeasement fails once again. Israel offers the Golan Heights and Iran and Syria order the Palestinians to kidnap Israeli soldiers. This from Aaron Klein for WND ;
JERUSALEM – An attempted Palestinian raid of the Israeli border this weekend, purportedly to kidnap an Israeli soldier, was orchestrated by Syria and Iran, according to security officials associated with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah party.Maybe this will spur Washington to send more taxpayer dollars to Fatah. Maybe Israel will be inspired to offer more than the Golan to Syria. And maybe Condi Rice will visit Tehran.
Palestinian security officials associated with Fatah told WND this weekend's Islamic Jihad kidnap attempt was "completely orchestrated" by Syria and Iran. They said the operation was directly ordered by Ramadan Shallah, the overall chief of Islamic Jihad who resides in Syria and travels frequently to Iran.
The Palestinian security officials said they had information phone calls were made between Islamic Jihad in the Gaza Strip and the group's leadership in Damascus right before, during and after Saturday's kidnapping attempt.
"This operation was an Iranian and Syrian way to explode things and have another card on the table," said a Palestinian security official.
The claims of Syrian involvement in the weekend attack comes after Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's office this week confirmed reports Olmert, using third party mediators, has offered Syria the Golan Heights if the Damascus regime cuts its ties with Iran and ends support for Palestinian terror groups.

I've been pontificating on this subject for awhile, here and on my blog: Land for peace, as an extension for any peace deal, will not work. There is no negotiating with a peoples that despises you so much that their ultimate goal is your extinction, preferably through genocide.

Why the frickin' heck are we not destroying Iran and Syria? How much is too much from them?!?
Brooke, I think the showdown is nigh: Israel is going to have its moment with Syria soon enough. As for Iran, dare I say that their time for reckoning is approaching as well, whether anyone likes it or not...

This is the last warning for Israel. The pattern from last year is repeating itself.
At some point the Jihadis will kidnap a couple of soldiers and the UN will do nothing until Israel reacts then they will condemn the Israelis.
You realize after that process starts you have only a few weeks to go all out and achieve your military objectives. After that, the U.S. will buckle to International pressure and demand you stop.
Get the job done this time and don't waste time by being ill-prepared.
Brooke,
We could destroy Iran and Syria but how would we explain why Condi's body was found in the rubble?
Mike,
A summer "event" is a done deal. I don't know if it's Syria, Lebanon or both. Doesn't really matter though...it's a proxy war.
Until the cancerous growth we know as Iran is destoyed, this saga will never end.
