British Doctors Call To Boycott Israel
It wasn’t enough that British journalists voted to boycott Israel so the British doctors decided to embarrass themselves as well. This from In The Days;
A group of 130 British doctors have called for a boycott of the Israel Medical Association and its expulsion from the World Medical Association.
In a letter to The Guardian newspaper in England last week the physicians, headed by the notoriously anti-Israel Dr Derek Summerfield and Professor Colin Green claimed “Persistent violations of medical ethics have accompanied Israel’s occupation.”
Outlining how they believe the Israeli Defence Force has “systematically flouted the fourth Geneva convention guaranteeing a civilian population unfettered access to medical services and immunity for medical staff”, the letter blamed Israel for destroying “any coherence in the (Palestinian) primary health system”.
IMA chairman Dr. Yoram Blachar, who also acts as the council chair of the WMA, rejected all the claims, noting that the Palestinian Authority refused to accept from Israel drugs and dialysis solutions that it was ready to transfer.
Martin Sugarman, the head of a twinning group between Homerton Hospital in London and Haifa’s Rambam Hospital in Israel, said he was shocked by the call.
“If suicide bombers from Gaza and the West Bank never dressed as pregnant or sick patients trying to reach and blow up Israeli hospitals, if PLO ambulances did not transport terrorists and arms, then maybe there would be no need for the security fence, check points and free access to medical care by peaceful citizens,” he told London’s Jewish News. “Despite all this, Israeli hospitals still treat free, Palestinian civilians from the West Bank and Gaza, with severe illnesses and conditions.”
The British, like so many others, spin outlandish tales in order to create an outlet for their anti-Semitic/Israel doctrine. Israeli hospitals admit and give free medical care to unsuccessful suicide bombers!! That’s right. If you are a Palestinian who just did not die from the explosion, you get a free bed in an Israeli hospital and world class medical treatment.
Go ahead you ungrateful Brits. But don’t only boycott the doctors; boycott anything medical that comes from Israel, such as drugs and technology. Here is a very short list:

I blogged about this, too, and have just about given up hope on England. The English are as bad as the French now when it comes to Israel, and ironically, if Sarkozy wins the French Presidency, France may soon become less anti-Israel than Great Britain.

I have lived in Britain all my life and I am appalled at the way the media and the British people treat the Israeli's. I have arguments with these types of people on a weekly basis. The Americans and Israelis are the only ones who would be willing to help us when the Muslims decide to take over yet these idiots love to jump on the anti-Israeli bandwagon. I am ashamed to call myself British and will soon be surrendering my british passport for an Irish one.

What makes all this such a joke is invoking the Palestinians. Not sure how this'll play in Great Britain but here in the Great Satan, Palestinian Sympathy Fatigue is rampant among Americans - especially the youth.
There is no sympathy, concern or interest for any of their self inflicted misery, honor killings, gender apartheid or their bizarro world view of 'shame' and 'honor' that seems to exist between the legs of their sisters and daughters. Who can blame Israel for wanting to wall themselves off from these unhinged people?
These doctors are nuts! The reason the health care situation is so horrible with the Palestinians, is Hamas. Period. Millions, maybe billions, of dollars have been sent to the Palestinians, much of that designated for hospitals, doctors, nurses, etc. But it never got to them, their salaries and expenses went unpaid, and the money was spent by Hamas for weapons. THEY are the problem.
Most English people are not anti-Israel. Unfortunately, some are and they tend to make a lot of noise. Probably the same in all countries.
The ordinary English people I know are far more concerned with the threat of islam.
Please do not slag off all of the UK due to the actions of these idiots.

Of course no one blames allthe British for the idiots out there. However, I haven't found too many people speaking out about this. I would have thought the UK has learned a thing or two about appeasement.

the syndrome you mention doesn't seem to be affecting Condi. She is becoming more of an Islamist every day. She is causing a lot of damage.

We are NOT an antisemitic nation (history shows this). However, anti-Israel sentiment is certainly a feature (although by no means unamimous) of the British left, which is in turn over-represented within the public sector - universities, journalism, local government; and also the media here (notice a pattern forming? I think you'll find there's plenty of anti-Zionism in these sectors in Israeland the US too). Live with it - it's opposition and thankfully both Britain and Israel are democracies that can take it.
Real British people are behind Israel, especially against the Muslim threat. We host huge Jewish communities here with whom we live at peace. I don't see El Al putting on too many extra Aliyah flights out of the UK. Do you?
I think stories like this usually bring out the latent anti-Brit lurking in a few unenlightened Americans and we see the usual inane remarks. That's what's really going on here.
I thought it was the RoP that couldn't take criticism - this should be water off a ducks back and should not hurt our friendship and shared struggle against the real villains.

It's not just the docs. It's academia, the trade unions, the architects etc.
And for the record, Britain has a terrible record of anti-Semitism. read up a little bit on their treatment of the Jews in pre-state Israel. It's not so flattering.
It's a trend, Philip, and not a very pretty one.

Thanks for your response. Please re-read my post. I know exactly where the "boycotts" (essentially pointless farts in the wind) are coming from.
Read that list of professions again. Now look at pretty much any country on the planet and reflect on the predominant shade of politics in those professions - therein lies my point.
As an interesting side-note, I dug a little after reading about this boycott and discovered that the instigator is one Dr. Derek Summerfield.
A quick call just now to a Jewish friend who shares his surname, reveals that this is in fact a fairly common Jewish name. Curious, wouldn't you say?

No one is holding the entire British people to blame for the acts of a few. I mentioned that in an earlier comment. You are correct about these particular unions and their tendencies.
Two questions;
1-Why are these unions in Britain boycotting? It's not occuring in Germany, France or Italy??
2-Why is there no outrage if so many fine English citizens feel they are being soiled by the acts of a few??
As far as Summerfield maybe being Jewish...so what? Some of the biggest anti-Semites I know are in the Israeli Government!!

Thank you for acknowledging that we're not all to blame! I have no idea why the French or Italians aren't jumping on this particular bandwagon. I don't think that's indicative of them being more or less anti-Jew, however.
I don't think the story has been given that much coverage here - but then that wouldn't surprise either of us given our agreement on the professions that seem to be the wellspring of this particular problem, would it?

Well, so it kinda sorta puts a whole new complexion on the story if in fact it turns out to be a Jew (British or otherwise), not a British gentile. that is leading the call to boycott. Or don't you see that?

Do Jewish Brits have the same standing as gentile Brits? if yes, then what's your point?
If no....then we have a serious problem.
Come now Jay, I think you're finessing the argument and trying to go a little ad hominem on me. It makes no difference to me if he's Jewish or not (and no more or less British in my eyes either, so let's stop that little insinuation dead in its tracks).
BUT it does make a HUGE difference if (as is clearly your intent here) one is attempting to present the boycott as being representative of the attitudes of the British to Jews.
You can't have it both ways, Jay. If it tuns out he's Jewish - then you have very little argument left.

What is Not being understood is the amount of Islamic Doctors we have in Britain, it is NO SMALL WONDER 150 of them ganged together to denounce Israel
