Racism Personified

The UN Committee on Elimination of Racial Discrimination concluded its seventieth session and issued its findings in a report released late yesterday. Israel, as usual, was front and center. The committee (whose findings are not binding) expressed "concern" and sometimes even "deep concern" over Israel's treatment of Israeli Arabs and Palestinians.

Needless to say no Arab nations were investigated for racial discrimination against Jewish citizens. That would be senseless since most of those countries deny citizenship to Jews. I guess if Israel evicted all the Arabs, then in the UN's eyes there would no longer be racial discrimination.

Here are some key accusations from the report; each section followed by analysis.

The Committee noted with concern that the Citizenship and Entry into Israel Law (Temporary Order) of May 2003 suspended the granting of citizenship and residence permits in Israel, including through family reunification, to residents of the Occupied Palestinian Territories, except in limited exceptions. Such measures had a disproportionate impact on Arab Israeli citizens, and the Committee was concerned that those “temporary” measures had systematically been renewed, and had been expanded to citizens of “enemy States”.

The law is designed to prevent Palestinians who marry Israeli Arabs from entitlement to Israeli citizenship. The law protects the demographic integrity of the Jewish state. In light of the Islamic track record of Women's Rights, it also prevents the pre-arranged marriages of terrorists and Arab Israelis, whose sole purpose is to gain admittance for the terrorists into Israel. Of course it has a disproportionate impact on Arabs since Jewish marriages and family unions are not designed to be "jihadic infiltrations".

The UN also shows the wisdom to admonish Israel for not allowing citizens from enemy states to enter its borders. The horror.

As of this writing, not one single Israeli Arab has petitioned the Palestinian Authority for Palestinian citizenship for a newly married couple. Sort of ironic that all these Arabs want citizenship in the racist Israeli state. Sort of ironic that not one Israeli Arab is ready to relinquish his Israeli citizenship in favor of the Palestinian variety. Shouldn't they prefer to live in a non-racist country in which their share a common culture, language and religion? Can't be too bad now in Israel, can it?

The Committee recommended that Israel assess the extent to which the maintenance of separate Arab and Jewish “sectors” might amount to racial segregation. Mixed Arab-Jewish communities and schools should be promoted and strong action taken to promote intercultural education.

The UN charges that Israel should promote "intercultural education".

The Israeli educational system has come under attack recently as being too liberal. They teach Arabic, Islamic history, Palestinian rights and promote the peace process. Just this week it was proposed that new monies be allocated to Arab schools at the expense of the "settlers".

The Palestinian educational system teaches that Israel has no right to exist. Maps show a Palestinian state from river to sea. All Jewish history in Israel is portrayed as fiction. The blood libels of the Middle Ages are alive and well in Palestine. Who exactly needs to promote change in the curriculum? Intercultural?

The Committee recommended that Israel cease construction of the wall in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, dismantle that structure, and make reparation for all damage caused.

I refer to my post of November 19. Here is Ramadan Abdallah Shalah, Secretary General of the Syrian based Islamic Jihad; “The fence is a barrier and has completely changed the situation on the ground”. He also admitted that the security fence built by Israel makes it very difficult on his organization to perpetrate attacks against Israel.

The UN can't allow that.

Anyone who denies Israel's right to the security fence is aiding and abetting terror.

Finally, the Committee urged Israel to ensure that the excavations at Al-Aqsa Mosque in no way endangered the Mosque or impeded access to it.

Since when does an archaeological dig fall under the guidelines of racism? Only if Israel is involved. As any fool knows, the work does not endanger the mosque nor impede access; it eases access. The illegal work the Wakf has done on the Temple Mount over the past years has done more damage to the site than 2000 years of natural erosion.

I guess that in the eyes of the UN, it doesn't pay to do the right thing. Perhaps if Israel treated the Palestinians in the same fashion that Egypt relates to the Islamic Brotherhood or as the Jordanians treated the Palestinians in that famous September over 30 years ago, the UN would overlook the issue.

If anything, Israel is guilty of overprotecting the Arabs. In no civilized country except Israel does a government offer full protection for a minority who publicly rallies for the destruction of the very same state. In no civilized country except Israel does the parliament allow its members to travel abroad and meet with the heads of recognized terrorists organizations. In no civilized country except Israel are religious national Jewish parties outlawed while Arab parties who proudly call themselves supporters of Hezbollah paid a government wage.

If anything, the UN is racism personified; the anti Israeli prototype. They spin lies into truth and turn criminals into victims. The UN needs to abandon all its pretentious committees and just look in the mirror in order to find the real criminal.

When will the civilized nations of the world leave the UN and bomb everyone who retains membership?

You say that " anyone who denies the security fence abets terror".

Then this obviously refers to many left wing Jews including Israelis like Israeli born, Moshe Safdie.

Moshe is well known in Montreal for having designed several well known buildings; the most well know is Habitat.

But Moshe does not support the wall. In his view it is ugly and it is a shame it was built.

I heard this in an interview NEVER mentionin why it was built to keep whom away from Israel. From an interview on TV.

I am afraid that it is common amongst the so called intellectual Israeli left to feel this way. The word muslim is not in their vocabulary. Only the word arab exists.

Sadly, maybe 100,000 dead burnt Israelis scattered in a black hole where there was a city might change it.

But for how long? Of all the lifties, the Israeli lefties like Safdie, Olmert, Livni, Peretz, Peres, Mitzna are the most confused and the most dangerous.
